Waterman is appointed as the mechanical, electrical and ESD engineering consultant for the University of Technology, Sydney (UTS) Broadway Building.
As an integral component of the city campus master plan, the UTS Broadway Building is approximately 42,000m2 over 15 levels and will house the UTS Faculty of Engineering and Information Technology. It will be located on the north side of Broadway, between Wattle and Jones Streets, opposite the Frasers Broadway site (formerly the Carlton United Brewery).
The UTS Broadway Building will be a vital part of the redefinition of the southern approach to the Sydney CBD.
The building will target a minimum 5-Star Green Star rating. The energy saving strategy is to deliver a 30% - 45% energy saving over benchmark tertiary educational buildings with similar functional spaces.
The concept includes for under floor air distribution systems and low energy lighting and a facade that is fully wrapped in a laser cut, low reflectance externally mounted aluminium 'binary code' screen, which in its perforations represents the pattern of '0s' and '1s' that underpin computing language reflecting the IT nature of the building. |
