Goodman Fielder Ltd (Project Frozen)

Waterman has recently completed the hand-over of a new specialty bread bakery for Goodman Fielder.

Waterman were engaged to undertake a study of alternatives for the establishment of a new bakery for the baking and snap freezing of artisan breads in Sydney. The main requirements were for the factory to be located close to a bulk frozen storage warehouse, conveniently located for distribution and with expansion capacity for future growth. The conversions was of an existing 7,500m2 warehouse.

Waterman undertook detailed designs for the conversion of this warehouse into a food manufacturing facility including architectural, civil, structural, mechanical, electrical, fire, process services and hydraulics. Particular challenges included the levelling of the existing sloped concrete floor, special internal conditioned environments including cool rooms for packing of frozen product, an air conditioned conveyorised over-bridge for the transport of cases of frozen product to the Frozen Warehouse, the installation of an indoor flour silo and the vermin-proofing of the perimeter fence to protect the Green and Golden Bell Frog presence in the adjoining reserve.

Waterman were also appointed as Project Managers to deliver the new facility in a completed state.

This facility was successfully handed over to Goodman Fielder in July 2003 and GF have been in production since then.
